What We Install

Four core equipment categories. One crew handles all of them.

Most heating installation jobs in South County come down to one of these four categories, sometimes two or three at once during a full system replacement. We carry quality oil-fired equipment, size every system to the actual home, and handle the full installation including disposal of old equipment, code compliance, and post-install testing. Each equipment category below links to a dedicated page covering specs, sizing, brands, and warranty detail.

High-efficiency oil-fired boiler installation in South County, RI

01 / Boilers

Hot Water Heating

Oil-Fired Boiler Installation

Boilers heat water and circulate it through radiators, baseboard, or radiant floor systems. They are the workhorse of most South County homes built before 1990. Whether your existing boiler has finally given out or you are upgrading to a high-efficiency model that can shave fifteen to twenty-five percent off your annual fuel bill, we carry top-rated oil-fired units sized to your specific home. Full boiler installation coverage including sizing methodology, brand options, and warranty terms is detailed on our boiler page.

  • Energy Kinetics, Buderus, and other premium oil-fired brands
  • High-efficiency models with annual fuel use ratings of 87% or higher
  • Full system replacement including circulators, expansion tanks, and controls
  • Old boiler disposal handled by our crew

Oil furnace installation and replacement in Wakefield, RI

02 / Furnaces

Forced Air Heating

Oil Furnace Installation

Furnaces blow heated air through ductwork to vents throughout the home. Common in newer construction and homes with central air conditioning that share the duct system. When the heat exchanger cracks or efficiency drops below the point where repairs make economic sense, replacement is the right move, and a properly sized high-efficiency furnace can pay for itself in fuel savings. See full oil furnace installation options and sizing details on our dedicated furnace page.

  • High-efficiency oil furnaces from major manufacturers
  • Heat exchanger sizing based on actual home heat-loss calculation
  • Ductwork inspection and minor repairs included where needed
  • Compatible with central AC for year-round comfort systems

Oil-fired and indirect water heater installation in South County

03 / Water Heaters

Domestic Hot Water

Water Heater Installation

Hot showers, dishwashers, laundry, hand-washing. Water heaters are the most-used piece of equipment in your home, and the first to show its age. We install oil-fired water heaters as well as indirect water heaters that run off your existing oil boiler, which is often the more efficient option for homes with hot water heating systems already in place. Compare water heater installation options including recovery rates and capacity on our water heater page.

  • Oil-fired water heaters for standalone hot water systems
  • Indirect water heaters that tie into existing boilers
  • Standard and high-recovery models sized to household demand
  • Old unit removal and proper disposal included

04 / Oil Tanks

Fuel Storage

Oil Tank Installation & Replacement

An aging oil tank is the single biggest risk in an oil-heated home. A leak can mean a multi-thousand-dollar environmental cleanup and a homeowner’s insurance claim that may not be covered. We are certified Roth fuel oil safety storage tank installers, which means double-walled, leak-resistant tanks with a 30-year warranty against corrosion-related failures. If your tank is over 20 years old or showing rust, replacement is the responsible call. Full oil tank installation and replacement details, including Roth tank specs, are on our oil tank page.

  • Certified Roth double-walled tank installation
  • Indoor and outdoor tank placements
  • Old tank removal and proper disposal
  • All code compliance and permitting handled in-house

The only Roth-certified tank installer family in South County

Roth tanks are double-walled, leak-resistant, and backed by a 30-year warranty against corrosion-related failures. Becoming a certified installer requires manufacturer training and ongoing recertification. For South County homeowners with aging single-wall tanks in their basement, this is the standard worth asking for. SmithCo has carried the certification for years and made Roth tank replacement a core part of our installation work.

Our Process

From quote to final test, here’s what happens

01

Site visit & quote

A real technician measures the home, inspects the existing system, and gives you a written quote, not a price from a national call center.

02

Equipment sizing

We size the new unit to your actual heat-loss numbers, not a thumb rule. Oversized equipment short-cycles, undersized struggles in cold snaps.

03

Permits & scheduling

We pull permits, schedule the install around your availability, and confirm the date in writing. Most jobs take one to two days.

04

Install & test

Our crew handles installation, removes old equipment, and runs efficiency tests before leaving. The system is up and stable before we drive away.

Technician came on Christmas Day in a timely manner and quickly plugged the leak in our tank. HUGE help to our family at an inconvenient time. Very professional.

Common Questions

Heating equipment installation, answered

How long does a typical installation take?
Most boiler, furnace, water heater, and oil tank installations are one to two day jobs. Full system replacements where multiple pieces of equipment are being installed at once can stretch to three days. We confirm the timeline in writing before the job starts so there are no surprises.
How do I know if it is time to replace my heating equipment?
A few signals: the system is over twenty years old, repair costs are starting to add up, efficiency has noticeably dropped, the equipment is making new noises, or it cannot keep up during a cold stretch. We can do an evaluation during your annual tune-up and give you a straight answer on whether to repair or replace based on the numbers.
Will a high-efficiency system actually save me money?
Usually yes, but the math depends on your starting point. Replacing a thirty-year-old boiler running at sixty-five percent efficiency with a modern unit at eighty-seven percent can mean fifteen to twenty-five percent fuel savings annually. Replacing a unit that is already efficient with a marginal upgrade is rarely worth it. We give you the actual numbers before recommending the swap.
Do you handle permits and code compliance?
Yes. All permitting, inspections, and code compliance work is handled in-house. We pull the permits, schedule any required inspections, and submit completion paperwork. As a Master Pipe Fitter under RI License #2703, we are accountable for code compliance on every job we touch.
What happens to my old equipment?
We remove it and dispose of it properly. Oil tanks have specific disposal requirements that vary by tank condition and location. Old tanks with residual oil cannot just be hauled to scrap. Our quote includes removal and disposal, so there is no separate vendor or additional cost to manage.
Do you offer financing on installations?
For larger jobs we can discuss financing options when you come in for the quote. Manufacturer rebates may also apply on certain high-efficiency systems. Those are often time-limited, so it is worth asking when you call.
