Heating Oil Delivery & HVAC Service in North Kingstown, RI
Bay-side homes, mill villages, and a historic seaport
North Kingstown is the bay-facing northern half of the old colonial Kings Towne, split off in 1723 and home to one of the largest collections of 18th-century houses anywhere in the Northeast. Roughly 30 miles of Narragansett Bay coastline wraps the town from Quonset Point in the north to Saunderstown in the south. SmithCo has delivered heating oil and serviced equipment from our Wakefield headquarters up to North Kingstown for the entire 40 years we have been in business. We know which Wickford basements have flood concerns, which Saunderstown cottages need pre-arrival service, and which Quonset-area apartments came from the wartime housing crunch and still use the original heating systems.
Eight villages plus the seaport, all on our routes
North Kingstown stretches 58 square miles from the bay coastline inland through historic mill villages. Each has its own character and heating service profile.
Wickford
The historic seaport. National Register district. Pre-1900 homes, Wickford Harbor, Smith’s Castle nearby, and Wickford Junction MBTA station.
Saunderstown
Bay-side village in the southern end of town. Gilbert Stuart birthplace, Casey Farm, and the historic Saunderstown ferry crossing to Jamestown.
Quonset & Davisville
The former WWII naval complex, now Quonset Business Park, Quonset State Airport, and home of the 143rd Wing RI Air National Guard.
Lafayette
Historic mill village along Ten Rod Road. The 1840s Rodman Manufacturing complex anchors the National Register district.
Hamilton
Former mill village in the central part of town, now a residential neighborhood with a mix of historic and mid-century homes.

Three different homes, three different service approaches
North Kingstown housing splits cleanly into three patterns. Each gets a slightly different approach when we service or install equipment.
Wickford & Saunderstown Historic
The 18th and 19th-century homes that define Wickford and the older parts of Saunderstown. Tight stone basements, older boiler retrofits, careful work in historically significant properties.
Boiler upgrades that respect historic basement constraints, tank work in compact spaces
Post-War & Cottage Colonies
The cottage colonies at Plum Beach, Shore Acres, Mount View, and Barber Heights, plus the wartime-housing-era homes near Quonset. Mix of year-round and seasonal owners.
Equipment replacements at end of original lifecycle, seasonal-home coordination
Newer Inland Construction
Newer subdivisions across the inland portion of town and infill construction in established neighborhoods. Typically built with high-efficiency oil-fired systems.
Annual tune-ups, service plan setup, automatic delivery accounts
Landmarks every North Kingstown resident knows
If any of these are part of your daily life, your address is well inside our service footprint.
Wickford Harbor
The working harbor at the heart of Wickford village. The annual Wickford Art Festival is one of the largest outdoor art shows in New England.
Smith’s Castle
The 1678 colonial plantation on the bay just north of Wickford. One of the oldest surviving colonial structures in Rhode Island.
Quonset State Airport
Home of the 143rd Airlift Wing RI Air National Guard and the Quonset Air Museum at the former WWII naval air station.
Casey Farm
Working farm in Saunderstown dating to 1725. One of the oldest continuously farmed properties in New England, maintained by Historic New England.

Historic Property Experience
Forty years of working in Wickford and Saunderstown historic homes means we know how to fit modern equipment into pre-1900 basements without disrupting historic character.
Seasonal Cottage Coordination
Plum Beach, Shore Acres, and the other bay-side cottage colonies have seasonal owners who arrive on tight schedules. We coordinate pre-arrival service so the heat is ready when you are.
Local, Not Regional
A real Wakefield office answered by real SmithCo staff. Many of our North Kingstown customers have spoken with the same dispatcher for 10 or 15 years.
Same Family, Three Generations
Stephen Smith founded the company in 1985. His sons David and Kevin run it today. We pay South County taxes, live among our customers, and are not going anywhere.
