Heating Service Plans in South County, RI

Heating Service Plans

Insurance for the one piece of equipment your home cannot afford to lose

A heating service plan is exactly what it sounds like: protection for the system that keeps your home warm and safe through a New England winter. SmithCo plans bundle annual tune-ups, parts coverage on over 50 system components, priority emergency dispatch, and loyalty credits toward eventual equipment replacement. Most of our long-term heating oil delivery customers join the plan within their first two years of service and stay enrolled for decades. The math is simple: one major repair call usually costs more than a year of plan membership.

Plan Value

Three things every plan delivers, every year

Specific coverage details vary by plan level, but every SmithCo service plan member gets these three core benefits as the foundation of the program.

01

Annual Tune-Up Included

Full preventative tune-up every year, including fuel filter and nozzle replacement, burner cleaning, electrode adjustment, combustion analysis, and written efficiency report. Standalone, the tune-up alone pays for itself in restored fuel efficiency.

Standalone Value
A complete 12-task tune-up, included free with membership

02

Parts Coverage on 50+ Components

When a covered part fails, the repair or replacement is included at no additional charge for parts, including labor on most jobs. The covered parts list includes the components most likely to fail across boilers, furnaces, and oil-fired water heaters.

Plan Impact
One covered repair often exceeds the full annual plan cost

03

Priority Emergency Dispatch

Service plan members move to the front of the queue on emergency calls. In a snowstorm at 2am when half of South County is calling for service, plan members get dispatched first. Reduced or waived after-hours surcharges also apply.

When It Matters Most
Same-night dispatch on no-heat emergencies during peak demand

The Math

One bad winter, paid for by membership

The break-even math on a heating service plan is straightforward. One mid-winter circulator pump replacement, one zone valve failure, or one emergency no-heat call usually covers the full annual cost of plan membership. Most plan members come out ahead within their first 18 months, and the math gets better every year after that.

I just had maintenance done and I was extremely happy with the guys who came and serviced my units. I have oil furnaces and HW heaters, and I haven’t been happy with service guys from other companies. I liked the SmithCo guys and I really felt they did a good job. The prices are also reasonable and fair.

How to Enroll

Getting on a plan takes one phone call

01

Call or contact us

Tell us what equipment you have (boiler, furnace, water heater) and roughly how old it is. We can usually quote a plan level over the phone.

02

Quick system inspection

If your system has not been recently serviced, we schedule an enrollment inspection (often combined with your first tune-up) to confirm baseline condition.

03

Choose your coverage level

Based on the inspection and your equipment, we recommend a plan level. You make the final call on which level fits your situation and budget.

04

Sign and you are covered

Sign the service agreement, schedule your first tune-up if it has not already happened, and coverage starts the day the agreement is executed.

Common Questions

Service plans, answered

How much does a service plan cost?
Plan pricing depends on your coverage level, equipment type, and home setup. Call for current pricing in your specific situation. Most South County households find that plan membership pays for itself within the first 12 to 18 months between the included tune-up, covered repairs, and reduced emergency rates.
What is the difference between parts coverage and labor coverage?
Parts coverage means the cost of the replacement part itself is included when a covered component fails. Labor coverage on standard service calls is included on most repair work for plan members. Specific labor inclusions and any service-call fees are documented in your individual plan agreement.
Do you cover systems SmithCo did not install?
Yes. Most of our plan members were not originally SmithCo installations. New enrollments typically require a baseline inspection to confirm the system is in serviceable condition before coverage begins. Older systems with pre-existing issues may require some upfront work to qualify for full coverage.
What is not covered by a service plan?
Specific exclusions are documented in your plan agreement, but generally not covered: pre-existing conditions documented at enrollment, damage caused by neglect or improper operation, equipment that has reached end-of-life and needs replacement rather than repair, parts on the most expensive tier of components like heat exchangers and tanks, and work caused by external issues like flooding or power surges.
How do loyalty credits work?
Service plan members earn loyalty credits each year of continuous enrollment. These credits accumulate and can be applied toward eventual heating system replacement when the time comes. Long-term plan members often have meaningful credits banked by the time they need a new boiler or furnace.
Can I cancel my plan if I need to?
Yes. Plans run on an annual term and you can choose not to renew at the end of any year. Mid-term cancellation policies vary by plan and are documented in your service agreement. Most plan members stay enrolled for many consecutive years once they see the value.
